Training Tips/Blogs
How long will it take to train my retriever for just hunting?
Our Gun Dog program is generally a 4-6 month program in which the dog stays at our facility and receives daily training. During this time we will work on the dog's obedience, get him conditioned to the electronic training collar, teach him to fetch and hold his birds properly and teach land and water retrieving concepts. He will also be properly exposed to gunfire and decoys. At the end of the program, you will have a dog that is ready to hunt ducks in the marsh or doves in the field. Click here for more.
Do you train any breed of dog for obedience?
Yes. In fact we have a proven system in which we incorporate our techniques used in training our competitive hunting dogs with methods geared for companion dogs. No other system will get the proven results we train for. Click here for more information or see our other website at www.canineperceptions.com

How do I get to your facility?
We are located just 30 minutes east of Dallas off I-30 in Royse City Texas. Click here for detailed directions.
What do I need to bring with me when I drop my dog off for training?
Please bring a current copy of the dog's vaccinations including the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination.
* Enough food for your dog's stay (if for obedience or boarding)
* Any medication the dog is taking (with written instructions)
Can I visit my dog in for training?
Yes. In fact we encourage you to visit as often as your schedule will allow. We want you here "learning" with your retriever as he or she progresses. We have "visitor and client days" EVERY Saturday morning as well! Everyone "client or not" is welcome to come train with us at no charge.
