Our Basic Gun Dog course will prepare your dog to retrieve birds in the field or marsh. Perfect for the hunter who wants a great hunting companion he can rely on to get his birds back to him. This usually takes 4-6 months to complete. Introduction to birds, gunfire, decoys, steadiness, obedience, electronic collar training, force-fetch and basic marking concepts on land and water will be the emphasis. At the end of the program you will have a reliable hunting companion for dove, waterfowl, and upland birds. Your dog will also be ready to compete in the "Junior" level Hunt Test programs. Our Advanced Training will build on the skills in the "Basics" course and go on to teach the dog how to run blind retrieves following hand and whistle signals and also advance marking concepts to doubles, triples and even quads. Straight lines through cover and water will be some of the advanced marking concepts taught. Steadiness will be completed and honoring other working dogs will be included. Training at this level will prepare your retriever to compete in the "Senior" or even "Master" level Hunt Test programs. |
