The following letters for each title will appear before the dog's registered name on UKC registration papers once he has attained the title. The UCK/HRC Hunt Tests are rapidly gaining popularity among Hunt Test participants due to the fact they resemble actual hunting situations.
SHR = Started Hunting Retriever: This is a UKC title that is earned by acquiring 20 points at the Started level in a licensed Hunt Test. A Started pass is worth 5 points. The retriever will need 4 passes at this level to attain his title. Tests will consist of single marks on both land and water and the dog must deliver the birds to the handler (delivery to hand not required). Complete steadiness is not required as you may "gently" restrain the dog by holding it's collar, however it's a good practice to have a dog that is steady in training before running a Started Test.
HR = Hunting Retriever: This is a UKC title that is earned by acquiring 40 points. 30 of those points must be at the Seasoned level. A Seasoned pass is worth 10 points. This is the intermediate level in the UKC program. Tests will consist of double marked retrieves, blind retrieves, walk-ups, diversion birds, and steadiness is a requirement.
HRCH = Hunting Retriever Champion: This is a UKC title that is earned by acquiring 100 points, 60 of which must be earned at the Finished level. A Finished pass is worth 15 points. This is the upper level in the UKC program. Tests will consist of triple marked retrieves, multiple advanced concept blind retrieves, walk-ups, diversion birds, honoring the working dog and steadiness is a requirement.
GHRCH = Grand Hunting Retriever Champion: This is a UKC title that is earned by acquiring 220 points at the Finished level and 80 points from the HRC Grand Hunt Test. 1 Grand pass is worth 40 points. This is the highest possible hunt test title offered in the UKC.
UH = Upland Hunter: This is a UKC title that is available for those that train their dogs for upland hunting. 40 points must be acquired. A pass is worth 10 points.
